As people often say, ‘fall in love with your best friend’ - the story of Rebecca and Matt embodies this mantra to a tee. The story begins in Libertyville, Illinois where Rebecca and Matt first met and quickly became best friends. The two spent countless high school nights hanging out in the same friend group, traveling to downtown Chicago, supporting each other at Rebecca’s soccer and Matt’s baseball and basketball games – always in the front row. While just friends, they have always been each other’s biggest fan. From these early days, Matt was also able to understand the ‘twin thing.’ He’s had & appreciated his own, stand alone friendship with Rebecca’s twin, Paige.

Matt & Rebecca's friendship continued and grew stronger as they both made the trek down south for college; Rebecca made her way to Ole Miss and Matt made his way to Clemson. While both enjoying their college experience to the fullest, the friendship continued to grow. Matt visited Rebecca and Paige for an Ole Miss football game, Paige and Rebecca visited Matt in Florence, Italy for their spring break as Matt studied abroad. They spent summers back in the Chicago area attending Cubs games, music festivals, and enjoying Libertyville. During the summer of 2018 Matt and Rebecca’s friendship started to evolve. While still friends, they began to spend time together just the two of them - going into the city, Rebecca inviting Matt over to the McCarthy's for dinner, and Rebecca going to a Cubs game with the Reed's.

As their undergrad years came to a close, thankfully, some longer than others, Rebecca decided to pursue her masters in Athletic Leadership and where else but Clemson! With long time family ties to Clemson and a top masters program Rebecca joined Matt, who while taking a victory lap, attended all 15 Clemson football games and finished his degrees in Finance and Marketing during the fall of 2018. The jury is still out on the real reason Rebecca chose Clemson… depending on who you ask… but we both thank God she did!

During the fall of 2018 the Clemson Tigers went undefeated and were National Champions but Matt was the real winner. Rebecca and Matt started dating during the fall of 2018. Rebecca worked for Clemson Men’s Soccer and pursued her Masters while Matt finished his degrees and took football road trips with some of his closest friends. Their early date’s consisted of moped rides, Fall for Greenville, PGA Tour Championship and Asheville. Rebecca instantly became close with the Clemson crew and rumors quickly started to go around about Rebecca and Matt.

Since their departure from Clemson, Matt and Rebecca have shared love for each other both near and far. Rebecca working as a personal assistant in Nashville, Tennessee and Matt as a Financial Advisor in Atlanta, Georgia they have enjoyed getting to experience both Nashville and Atlanta. However, those aren’t the only places they spend their time. Rebecca and Matt both have a sense for adventure, experience and travel. Together they have made memories in: Italy, Egypt, Iceland, Brazil, Israel, France and every corner of the US. While the long distance is never easy, both Rebecca and Matt work to appreciate each other and take advantage of their time together.

Present day, Rebecca and Matt live in Brookhaven, GA and are enjoying their life engaged! This chapter started on the 11th green at Golf Club of Georgia just after Thanksgiving 2023. As best friends turned soulmates, they cannot wait to share their special day with their favorite people in their favorite place – Florence Italy on May 9th, 2025!
