Travel Logistics

By Plane

You can fly directly into the Florence (FLR) airport.

If you fly into the Florence airport, the two best ways to get to the city center are via train or taxi. Please note, Lyft & Uber are not available.

To get on the train, head northeast out of the terminal, turn right toward Via del Termine then turn left onto Via del Termine & the station will be on your right. To get to Central Florence, get on at 'Peretola Aeroporto' & take the train about 20 minutes (commonly 12 stops along the way) to the Unità station.

To get a taxi from the airport, turn right out of the Arrivals door and walk along the building until you get to the end. At the end of the building, turn right and walk about 75 feet to the sign that says PRIMO DI FILA - WAIT HERE to wait for a taxi. There may be a long line, but don't worry - it moves quickly!

Oftentimes, a less expensive way to get to Florence is to fly into the following airports: Bologna (BLQ), Rome (FCO), Milan (MXP), or Venice (VCE) and take the Frecciarossa trains to Florence. Further train instructions from these airports are listed below. This is also a great option if you plan to stay in Italy before or after the wedding and travel to different destinations. The high-speed trains are the BEST and FASTEST way to travel between Italy's biggest cities.

By Train

To book train tickets, visit the Trenitalia website. If you plan to take the trains, we highly recommend you download the Trenitalia app. The main train station in Florence is Firenze Santa Maria Novella. Upon arrival at the train station, follow the taxi signs which will lead you to the taxi stand right outside of the station. Taxis are readily available. You can also arrange a pickup with your hotel. Much to Matt's chagrin, if you plan on walking or using public transportation, we highly recommend the Google Maps app as it allows the most user friendly experience.

BOLOGNA

The main Bologna train station is Bologna Centrale.

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport > Bologna Centrale - 10 minutes

The best option from Guglielmo Marconi Airport to Bologna Centrale is the Marconi Express train. Taxis are also available.

Rome

There are two main train stations in Rome - Roma Tiburtina and Roma Termini. We prefer Roma Termini.

Rome Fiumicino Airport > Roma Termini - 35 minutes

The best option from Fiumicino Aeroporto Roma Termini is the Leonardo Express run by Trenitalia. Taxis are also available.

There are two main train stations in Venice - Venezia Santa Lucia and Venezia Mestre. Venezia Santa Lucia is located on the Venetian lagoon.
